2010-2011 2nd Grade Curriculum

We will be using Heart of Dakota’s Preparing Hearts for His Glory for 2nd grade. It includes most of our subjects, which I have outlined below.

History:
The history part of the program provides a one-year overview of world history from creation to the late 1900's told in story form. Included in this are corresponding history read-alouds, oral narration, written narration, oral comprehension, Biblical applications, geography, timeline, vocabulary, history projects, copywork, and corresponding independent literature readings and assignments

Science:
Biographical and living book science readings, science experiments, science notebooking, and science comprehension and Biblical application questions

Spelling:
The last half of All About Spelling 2 plus the dictation passages from Preparing Hearts for His Glory

Math:
Righstart Math C

Grammar:
First Language Lessons 2nd grade

Literature:
Heart of Dakota’s Drawn Into the Heart of Reading, along with the books assigned with Preparing Hearts for His Glory

Bible:
Community Bible Study (CBS), Bible study of Psalms, and Bible passage memory work of Psalms: with the CD "Lead Me to the Rock”

Poetry:
Classic Poetry from Robert Louis Stevenson: study, read, memorize & write poetry

Latin:
Probably review Song School Latin (which we did last year) and look online for things to add before we move to the next level

Writing:
Writing Strands 2

Art:
Meet the Masters, Drawing with Children, and Discovering Great Artists

Music:
Classics For Kids
