Homeschool Mother's Journal 01-17-14

In our homeschool…

Funny Bunny is almost finished with Unit 19: The Greeks Resist the Persians in Heart of Dakota's Creation to Christ.  Since my last post though, she completed 4 other units.  Here are some of the highlights.

Her history project one week was to make a prayer box out of construction paper.

In science she has had to make a bird and plant book and draw pictures using the website enature.com

And of course, I still love all of the beautiful paintings she is doing to go along with the poetry.

Books Funny Bunny is reading independently...

Books I am reading aloud to Funny Bunny...

In our homeschool lives...

Since starting back with school, I've had to make a few adjustments.  We decided to save Write with the Best for the summer and continue using Institute for Excellence in Writing {IEW} Student Writing Intensive {SWI} B for writing.  It will most likely add a little time to our school schedule but I think it will be worth it in the end.

Funny Bunny is also starting to grumble about Latin.  We've been using Visual Latin and she had been enjoying it up through the last few weeks of school in December.  I just think she is realizing she actually has to put some effort in to learning a new language.  So we took a break from it this week and I'm trying to figure out a plan for the rest of the year.

Funny Bunny also started participating in an online Minecraft class.  It started this week and she has been working on it about an hour a day {which is hard for us to find sometimes}.  This particular class is for 9-12 year-olds and focuses on the Westward Expansion.  A local homeschool mom's son has started it out and we are helping to test it for him.  :)

Outside our homeschool lives...

Funny Bunny started a preteen ensemble class on Wednesday nights at church.  So she's now in preteen ensemble, chorus, and then small group on Wednesdays.  Busy child...

I'm still working on eating healthier and working out.  Still 3lbs down and have been making time to jog around the neighborhood.
