Update on Our Homeschool Reviews

So here's a little update on what's going on with Our Homeschool Reviews.

I started my blog way back in May of 2010 when I began writing reviews for The Old Schoolhouse Homeschool Review Crew. I happily reviewed some wonderful products and posted about our day to day homeschooling adventures for about four and a half years. I loved it and so did our daughter!

Then after some thought, in December 2014 I decided to step down from reviewing for TOS simply because our daughter was about to start Jr High and she needed a break. It was hard to say goodbye to that close-knit group, but it was best for our family. I was still pretty active on my blog and enjoyed writing and interacting with readers and friends.

As time went on though, I needed a break too. 

Fast forward about two years and I'm finding myself with more time. Our daughter, who is now 13 and in 8th grade, has been pretty independent over the past year with her school work, and, well, I still love reading through curriculum! I miss it!

So here I am! Ready to dive into some new curriculum and share my thoughts with you. I'm excited to get started! I hope you are too!

Spring Break Week

It's spring break in our area so we are taking it light this week with school.  Just continuing to work on math, piano, and catching up on writing so Funny Bunny can have some time with her friends.

Over the weekend we traveled to Disney with our dance studio and the girls danced at Downtown Disney.  It was very exciting for them and they did an awesome job!

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter for the first time and really liked the location and grounds. I think we will be staying there again next time we visit.

Tomorrow we will be going to a local nursing home to deliver calendars and candy with our preteen girls group from church.  Then we'll head to the park for lunch.  The weather has been nice here and in the mid 80's although I think tomorrow the high will only be 70.

Next week we'll be starting Unit 26 of Resurrection to Reformation.  Only 10 more weeks left, which will put us finishing school at the end of May.

That's about it for now.  Will be working on a few reviews I have coming up in the next week or two.

It's 2015!

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted.  It was nice to take an extended break from blogging during the holidays.

Hubby took some time off work too, so we were able to take several day trips the last week of December.

Now Funny Bunny and I are trying to get back into the swing of things.  I've decided to do a little "spring cleaning" so our house is half in order and half disaster.

We are still chugging along with Heart of Dakota.  Today we started Day 1 of Unit 18.

I'm also back to trying my best at eat plant based meals.  Not starting as strong as last year but I'm at about 80%, so not too bad.

Blogging News

I apologize for the lack of blog posts lately.  Between decorating for Christmas, cleaning the house, and working with Funny Bunny to make crafts for our local Homeschooling Gift & Craft Fair last week, I was short on time.  Thankfully all of that is behind us now so we are back on schedule. :)

I do have some sad blogging news to share though.  After being with The TOS Review Crew since the summer of 2010 {4 1/2 years!!}, I have decided to take a break, at least for now.  My plan will be for Funny Bunny to start Challenge A with Classical Conversations in the fall, so I didn't want to add any more work for her during that time.

I have some very exciting news as well!  I will continue blogging and we will still be reviewing homeschooling and other products, but just at a more relaxed pace.

As a matter of fact, I have one review coming this week that I'm excited to share about, so stay tuned!!

Summer Days

The dog days of summer have really hit around here.  After a week of church camp {for both Funny Bunny and I} and a week of dance workshops {which are happening this week}, we have hardly any free time to spare.

Most free time this week has been dedicated to reviewing curriculum so stay tuned because you'll be seeing several reviews coming throughout the next couple weeks.  :)

Summertime Fun!

I wanted to send out a quick note about why you haven't seen as many posts from me the past couple weeks. Summer is in full swing and we are either cleaning things around the house or out playing with friends.

Next week there will be even less as we will be away at camp.  Yes, me too!!!

VBS Week

It's VBS week and I'll be helping teach my daughter's class, so posts will be light.  Pray they will be able to Discover, Decide, and Defend.

2013: A Look Back

I can't believe it's already 2014!!  I know we say it every year, but time flies! Here's the best of our 2013.

Last year I started off by continuing my plant based diet.  I've since deviated from that and it's been hit or miss most of the year.  Trying to get back and on track next week with something new.

I joined Pinterest...and actually started pinning. :) 

I tried my first green smoothie.  Next week I'll be trying some juice recipes that I'll share.

We started our annual spring garden.  Things were growing nicely, and since the weather stayed cooler longer, we were able to harvest more than usual.

I got highlights for the first time ever.  I need to do this again...badly!

Some bluebirds moved in.

Funny Bunny turned 10! Akk!!  She also had her first sleepover.

We got our first caterpillars!  And then we got more caterpillars.

I was able to go to the FPEA Homeschool Convention in Orlando and met Dwane Thomas with Visual Latin and Andrew Pudewa with IEW.  Very exciting!!

Hubby and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary!  We went to IKEA!

We switched churches and I really think it was the right decision.  Funny Bunny is now involved with Choir and Preteen Group on Wednesday nights and Sunday School and Praise Team on Sunday mornings.  She is staying very busy and I've been volunteering with the 4th grade preteen girls on Wednesday nights.  We've met a lot of great families!

Funny Bunny attended her very first day camp, which was a week-long dance camp.  She loved it!

She also started 5th grade which is really crazy to me!!  We decided to continue to use Heart of Dakota this year.

I continued to work as an Independent Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts and am still enjoying it.

We took a wonderful trip to North Carolina to visit family in October.  It ranks as one of our best vacations and we are ready to go back!

Funny Bunny attended a dance convention in Daytona.  Not the most fun weekend getaway for the adults, but I know the girls had a great time!  Below she is doing a toe stand.

And of course I had the pleasure of reviewing a ton of products!!  I'll be reviewing once again this year for the Schoolhouse Review Crew and am ready to get started!  Before that though, I'll be posting my favorite product reviews of 2013, so stay tuned!

Back Home!

We arrived back yesterday from a week in the mountains of GA, NC, and TN.  It was a relaxing and fun week spent with family!!

I obviously neglected my blog while we were away.  Sorry about that...but here's a few pictures from our trip.
