Download N Go ~ Expedition Australia

Our Homeschool Reviews is excited to share with you that I was asked by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine to review one of their theme based Download N Go unit studies!!

Expedition Australia, by Amanda Bennett and TOS, is one of many unit studies that is one week in length, and has five daily lessons with lapbook components for each day. These studies are ready to use as soon as you have downloaded them and they are full of information!

Expedition Australia includes:
  • An introduction to the study
  • An outline of the daily objectives
  • Book suggestions
  • Introduction to lapbooking
Day 1 starts with Where on Earth is Australia. You learn things like the names of the continents, investigate the Great Barrier Reef, and learn about the koala.
Day 2 begins with Some of the Special Places in Australia. You learn the main regions of Australia, major cities and about the kangaroo.
Day 3 is A Bit of Australian History, including the Australian flag, the wombat, Captain Cook and the Aborigines.
Day 4 and 5 include Cool Things to Know About Australia and Fun and Games in Australia.

As the student works through the week, he/she is creating an Australian lapbook. Only a few inexpensive items are needed for the lapbook, such as a simple file folder, a glue stick, safety scissors, brass brads, and crayons or markers.

My Thoughts: I like that everything is right there at my finger tips. I can click on any of the links provided and it takes me to more information. In addition, if I am learning about the koala, for instance, there is also a link to take me to the corresponding lapbook page to complete that activity. It looks very easy to use and there are more than enough activities to complete for the week. I also like that it includes learning geography, science and history all in one.

Although everything is prepared and ready to use, I will say that if you do not like printing, this may not be the product for you. Of course, having the electronic copy lets you use it for more than one child, and for years to come, which is a plus! And, since it is for grades K-4th, it can be used with multiple children at the same time!

Find Out More: TOS Magazine's Schoolhouse Store offers Expedition Australia as a download for only $7.95 (which I think is a great price!). You also have the option to purchase Expedition Australia in a bundle with other Download N Go titles here.

PR Info and Disclosure Policy

Thank you for your interest in Our Homeschool Reviews.  My name is Christine and I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to one wonderful daughter.

I was selected as a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew so I started my blog in May 2010 as a way to post curriculum reviews.  The Crew is a large group of product reviewers who primarily review homeschool curriculum and products.

In addition to my work with the Crew from May 2010 until December 2014, I also enjoy reviewing books and other family friendly products, homeschool related or not.

My blog has steadily increased it's readers, gaining new followers on a weekly basis.  My blog posts feed through to my Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google + accounts, where I have over 4,800 friends and followers.

If you are interested in having your product reviewed at Our Homeschool Reviews, please e-mail me. Our family loves trying out new products.  We have reviewed curriculum, books, games, audio cd's, crafts, small kitchen appliances, online software programs, movies, and more.  I also let my daughter include her thoughts in my reviews, which she is always excited to give.

If you would like to read any of my previous reviews, please click HERE.  I do not charge for reviews, but I do request a full version of the product to be reviewed, which would not be returned.

I also enjoy doing giveaways.  Previous giveaway posts can be seen HERE.  I do ask that giveaway items be shipped directly to the winner.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to hearing from you!
