Wordless Wednesday: Maisy Hiding

Monday we took Maisy to the Vet for her annual appointment.  She was hoping we would not notice her if she hid under the chair.

Wordless Wednesday: Maisy in the Morning

I downloaded a picture collage app for my phone and was trying it out this morning while Maisy was attempting to sleep.  Isn't she a cutie pie?!!!

Wordless Wednesday: Maisy Boo-Hoo

Our Maisy Moo had her teeth cleaned yesterday and is having some throat discomfort from the anesthesia tube so she is having a rest day.

Our Sweet Maisy

Our Maisy Moo was sick this week.  On Sunday she woke up feeling not herself and didn't want to play.  She seemed to be uncomfortable and was favoring either her back legs, back or belly.  After calling the emergency vet three times throughout the day, they finally told me to bring her in at 8pm since she wasn't getting any better.  She had a fever and they put her on antibiotics (although they weren't exactly sure what was wrong).

On Monday she was still not herself so I took her to our regular vet and they took some blood to have tested.  She still had a high fever so she was given antibiotics for the remaining 7 days.

The blood work came back yesterday and it was all normal (yay!) so they think it may just be a virus that needs to run its course.  I don't know if she still has a fever but she seems to be close to normal and is wanting to play, run, and jump.  I'll keep her on the antibiotics until they run out and hope that this is behind us.

Maisy is six years old and this was the first time we have had to take her to the vet because she was not feeling well.  Not something I want to go through again.  I felt so bad for her not being able to tell us what was wrong.

We are all glad that she is doing better!  :o)

2010 Gratitude Challenge - November 16

For the month of November Our Homeschool Reviews will be participating in a Gratitude Challenge hosted by Brenda at Garden of Learning.  For each day, I'll post about something I am thankful for.

Today I am thankful for...Our Dog Maisy!!  Growing up we had no pets (my dad said he was allergic...I'm still not quite sure that was totally true!)  ;o)  But my grandmother always had miniature schnauzers and I knew that was the dog I would want when I finally got one.

When our daughter was about a year old we started looking into breeders.  Coincidentally, our neighbor a few doors down had a couple miniature schnauzers and recommended the same breeder.  When we called we found out her dog was about to have babies.  What great timing!!  Maisy was the only girl in the litter and she was salt and peppered just like we wanted.  We got her when she was just 8 weeks old, and our daughter was 1 1/2.

Those first two months were hard.  She was already crate trained, and mostly potty trained, but the attention she needed was unbelievable! This was the second child we never had!  I was almost ready to give her away but I'm so thankful we didn't!!!  We all love her so much and she is just as quirky as the rest of us.  We couldn't imagine our lives without her now.  Our daughter has shown such love for her and out of that has spurred a compassion for all animals.  She says she wants to be a Veterinarian one day (while she also works toward being an astronaut and cashier)!

Happy Birthday Maisy!!

We were so excited to find you!

You were so little and fuzzy!

You had your eyes on those slippers and now they are yours.

We dressed you up as you got older!

And dressed you up some more.

You really don't like to be dressed up, do you?

But you look sooooo cute!

Happy 6th Birthday Maisy!
