2010 Gratitude Challenge - November 13

For the month of November Our Homeschool Reviews will be participating in a Gratitude Challenge hosted by Brenda at Garden of Learning.  For each day, I'll post about something I am thankful for.

Today I am thankful for...Coupons and Super Deals!!!  Yes, I like a deal when I can get one.  I have always been thrifty and have saved my money.  Think Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties?  He was one of my favorite characters.  I can remember thinking that when I had kids, I would teach them right away how to count money and save it (like when they were two)...lol!

In college I took a business course, and I can't remember which one, but one of the things it taught was negotiation skills.  I remember my professor telling us that everything was negotiable.  Everything?  Really?  So I thought I would try it out at the mall.  My husband and I were in Kirklands and I found a decorative pot that I thought would look nice above our kitchen cabinets.  As crazy as I thought it seemed, I was going to negotiate the price.  IT WORKED!  I got it for $10, and I think it was originally $20.  Now, I have tried that since and it doesn't always work, but it's worth a try!

Since then I have gotten into couponing and finding great deals online.  Last year I did almost all my Christmas shopping online.  I do still love to go into stores though, and this time of year is my favorite.  I may be the only person who loves to go out into the fray on the day after Thanksgiving (I use to work at Toys R Us in high school, so it's in my blood).  I don't get up super early, but I make my list, take my time, and still get what I want.  :o)

I also love to hear about good deals, so if you find one, let me know!  ;o)

I love a good deal too! I used to be addicted to finding good deals at yard sales, but now I seem to rarely have time to yard sale. I unfortunately don't use coupons as much as I should. That's awesome you were able to negotiate 50% off an item! That's a deal :)
Thanks for linking up again to Thankful Hearts Blog Hop! Have a great weekend!

I have such a hard time negotiating, when we travel to other countries and that is expected at the market I always let my husband do the talking. Then I feel guilty about how little I paid for something when I know how little the people have:(. I haven't tried it in a store maybe I practice as most big companies over charge anyway:)

I love deals, but I'm not much of a negotiator. Have a good day. I voted for you at HSBA. Good luck. =)

I enjoy a good bargain as well. I get a kick out of heading out to the Black Friday sales - yep, I'm one of the crazy ones. I've also enjoyed the Cyber Monday sales. It's fun to be able to find creative ways to afford things for my family. :)

I love good deals, too. I buy all my clothes at TJ Maxx, and love great sales and coupons.

I love to get deals, too. Although I'm not as crazy about those day-after-Thanksgiving sales. We usually wait until things have thinned out, too, even if we do miss the best deals.

I always know where the best deals are. My friends always call me to find out where they should buy things. I love to shop on Black Friday too.
