Maestro Classics Review

We love to listen to classical music in our home!  Every chance I get, I turn it on and let it play low throughout the house.  It is so nice listening to music while we do schoolwork, play, or clean.  What I like even more is when our daughter can recognize a piece of music and the composer!  That is one of the many reasons I love the Maestro Classics CD: Peter and the Wolf

Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf is part of Bonnie Ward Simon & Stephen Simon's award-winning series of recordings, combining classic stories with great symphony orchestra music.

Peter and the Wolf begins with an introduction of the characters and the instruments which represent them.  Next, the story is narrated along side the symphony orchestra.  The listener then learns about the composer, Sergei Prokofiev, and more about the music being played.  My favorite part of the CD is then listening to the instrumental version, without the narration.  We enjoyed trying to pick out the characters on our own.

The CD also comes with a booklet full of fun activities relating to the story, music, composer, instruments, and more.

My Thoughts:  I absolutely love this CD!  It is so nice to be able to listen to the story and music as a family.  We have both learned a few new things about the composer and the instruments.  I now have my eye on The Story of Swan Lake for a birthday present!!  ;o)

Thoughts of a 7-Year Old:  I really like it. I love the music and my favorite character is Peter and it is really fun to listen to!
