Lent ~ Day Three

Most often Lent is associated with giving up something we enjoy to focus on the time period leading up to Easter, but this year I have decided not to give anything up.

Instead I'm focusing my energy on my walk with Jesus and the strengthening of my faith.  My goal is to set aside time each day to pray and read from the Bible.

{Psalm 1: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.}

What a good way to start off Lent!  This is a reminder to us that we must seek God's word when making any decision, whether large or small.  It is also a warning about how God views the ungodly.

So when you are making a decision or entering into a situation where you are not sure what to do, ask yourself, what would Jesus do?  Then pray for wisdom and discernment on the matter.  Our challenge at home this Lent is to do the same thing.

For some other things we have planned, check out my first post about Lent.

What a great challenge. I look forward to hearing more about how the Lord is strengthening your faith.

Thank you again for participating in the meme. I am enjoying each post, so much.

Thanks for stopping in and reading our nature study! We really enjoy watching the antics of our squirrels. I know most people would rather they didn't invade their bird feeders, but the birds around here still come!

Hi, new follower from Social Parade. Can't wait to read more of your blog.

Catherine

I love that psalm. Like you, this year is as much about strengthening my faith as it is about the gestures. I'm really striving to keep in mind why we observe this season.

Good post. I am endeavoring to read my bible more as well, for myself, not just during devotions or bible study with my children. I love Psalm 1 as well, thank you for sharing.

Personal Bible reading is something I really need to get back into more. Thank you for the motivation (I started Bible in 90 Days but am so far behind at the moment, I'm not sure if I'm going to catch up. I did it hoping to get myself back into the habit.).
