What if...

...I was no longer homeschooling my daughter?  What would my dream job be?  Hmmm, good question!  I think to answer that I should take you back a bit to see where I was headed before I became a mommy.

For the longest time when I was younger, I wanted to be a lawyer.  Maybe it was growing up watching too much Matlock, I'm not sure.  When I got older though, I realized how much school I would have to go through.  So I had to scratch that idea.

As I entered college I still had no clear cut dream profession.  My job skills up to that point had been pizza maker, car washer, and store clerk.  I also had a very short lived telemarketing job...scratch sales.

I did however work for a very large toy store and after working there for a while, I began handling HR duties, like interviews.  I can still remember one of the applicants asking my age...lol!!  I am pretty sure I was in college by then but I have always looked much younger than I am.

So, while in college and still unsure of my plan, I decided to go for the ol' Bachelor in Business Administration (double major in Management and Marketing).  I figured that would have plenty of job options.  ;)  Well, my first job after college was in Human Resources, conducting interviews, going to job fairs, and pretty much handling anything administrative.  After a couple years, I moved over to the client side, got my insurance license, and became an Account Manager in Employee Benefits.  Basically doing the same HR duties but now for the client...open enrollments, marketing their plans, etc.

Five years after college I had our daughter and decided to stay home.  Fast forward almost 8 years, and here we are.

So, looking back at what I have done in past jobs and who I am today, I'm not sure what my dream job would be exactly, but I know it would have to be a job working with and helping people.  I enjoy talking with people (I loved those job fairs!!!) and I like to help others (one reason I love to blog).

...and if I couldn't have that.  I'd have to settle for professional cruise ship sailing.  Not sure if that is a "job" but sounds good to me!  ;)

funny how life changes as we grow...I was going to be a Dr, but when I ended up on the other side the bed (so to speak) I thought twice...I ended up in the HR field for 16 years...traveled, liked it...hard though....now I have been a SAHM/Homeschooling mom for almost 7 years and LOVE IT! ALthough if there were 10 hours more in our day then I would sneak in party planner as a new "job"...lol

I'm three years away from the end of this home school journey and I've been thinking a lot about what I want to be when I grow up. I don't know! Still trying to figure that out, but I do know I will be headed back to school (to study what--I don't know!). I'll see what happens at that point in time.

I've done a little bit of this and a little of that...prior to kids. I like working with people, but especially with kids. So I'm sure whatever my future holds, kids will still be there front and center :) But for now, I've still got a min of 13 years left of homeschooling. I'll be patient because I don't want them growing up too fast.

The Adventurer

I graduated with a BS in Occupational Therapy and while I LOVED the job, my dream job would be something more creative and hands on like photography or building stain glass windows or learn to paint:)

Hey, my dream job was to be a lawyer too! And I think part of my decision for it was Matlock. I loved that show!! As you know, I am not living out that dream, but dreams change and for now, I am living my dream with my three littles and can't wait to see what the Lord brings down the road.

Our Homeschool Reviews

Isn't it funny how we all go through different seasons in our lives. I would have never imagined 10 years ago I would be staying at home and homeschooling.
