Andi's Pony Trouble Book Review

Kregal Publications recently sent us Andi's Pony Trouble by Susan K. Marlow.  Andi's Pony Trouble is the first in the Circle C Beginnings series of books for 6-8 year olds about Andi, her baby horse Taffy, and her family and friends on the Circle C Ranch.

These books are great for children who are ready for chapter books.  The text is easy to read, there are illustrations, and I think both boys and girls would enjoy them, especially if they are fond of horses.
Other books in the series include Andi's Indian Summer, Andi's Fair Surprise, and Andi's Scary School Days.

Also coming in August 2011 are Andi's Lonely Little Foal and Andi's Circle C Christmas.

Our 8 year old daughter was given this book to read and below is her review.

Andi’s Pony Trouble by Susan K. Marlow is about a girl named Andrea Carter, who prefers to be called “Andi”, and her want for a horse.

Coco, her pokey old pony, is not right for her. But even standing on her tiptoes to make her taller does not help her get a horse. Her fear of roosters, her love of horses, and even her age of six prevents her from having a horse. But what can she do about it?

I like the part when Midnight the horse and Riley his rider do their trick. I don’t like the part when Andi loses Coco.

You’ll be surprised at what Andi gets for her birthday after all the trouble she has been through.

Andi’s Pony Trouble is easy to read. I like it and there is also a series for older kids I've read. I really like both!

My Thoughts:  I am happy that we were able to review this great chapter book.  My daughter loved it and I am glad that we can find wholesome books like these.  What I also like about this series is that on the website you can download FREE activities to supplement the books: mazes & dot-to-dots, vocabulary, maps, writing, math, history, crafts, and illustrations from the books to color.  My daughter enjoyed working on these after reading the book.  You can also purchase Lapbooks for the first four books.

And if you have children who are older, you can check out the original Circle C Adventures series.  We have the complete set and my daughter has read the first two already.  She just loves them!

Find Out More: You can find out more about Andi’s Pony Trouble and the other books in the series at Andi and Taffy's website.  Books sell for just $4.99 each or two for $9.98, but through 8/31 you can save 30% on your order if you enter code HOME11 at checkout (go to www.kregel.com/homeschool).  You can view all the books that are currently available here and to see a sample chapter you just click on the book cover.  You can also keep up with new books to be added to the series on their Facebook page.

My Crewmates are also reviewing the Circle C Beginnings Series, so you can check out what they think HERE.

Shawne

Christine,

Thanks for reviewing these. They look so cute. I'll bet Heather will like them too. Do you know if anyone at the HS convention sells them?

Our Homeschool Reviews

Hey Shawne. I don't know. Susan, the author, had posted one day on Facebook that Library and Educational Services had a good deal on the older series and that is where I bought mine through. That was several months back though so I don't know if the price is the same. http://www.libraryanded.com/

Andi Carter

HI Christine,
Thanks for your wonderful review, and I especially enjoyed reading your DD's review. How sweet and fun. And you got a writing assignment out of her too. Call it a GOOD school day! LOL
You can tell Shawne that there are some homeschool "bookstores" which sell the books at conventions: Area 127 (out West), another one I forgot the name off, and others. I go to homeschool conventions as well, at least out West: CA, WA, ID, AZ, OR, and NM.
But I'll tell you what: L&E is CHEAPER than any HS convention is going to sell them for. And Kregel is offering about the same "good deal" as L&E through August.

Thanks again for your review!
Susan
