GoTrybe Review

Summer is fast approaching, and for many, that means you are either at the beach, in the pool, or inside with the air conditioning cranked up!  You want the kids to get out and get some exercise, but it's just too hot.

So what do you do to get your children moving?  Why not give GoTrybe a try?  GoTrybe is an online fitness and nutrition community that delivers daily fitness, nutrition, wellness, and motivation content to students and teachers across the US.

GoTrybe has three levels:

Zoodoos: for grades K-5
Tyrbe180: for grades 6-8
Nextrybe: for grades 9-12

Once you sign up and log in, you make your avatar.  An avatar is a character that you can design to represent you on the site.  You get to pick your skin color, hair style, hair color, facial features, clothing, accessories, and more.

This was my daughter's favorite part and you can see her avatar to the left.  She could seriously spend all day playing around in this section of the site.

Next you move over to the fitness screen and you can choose from a large number of warm up videos, cardio videos, and strength and flexibility videos.  You can hover over each video and find out the description, length, and intensity.  Each are only 3-4 minutes long so you can add several and make a video the right length for your child.  And if you can't decide which to put together, you can pick a complete Trybe Workout that has been assembled for you.  It is nice that you have the choice.

There are also sections for Nutrition, Motivation, and Wellness where you can watch videos on different topics and take quizzes.

You get points for each activity you complete, whether it's a workout video or taking a quiz.  Points add up and you can earn badges.

There is also a forum where you can ask questions, post information, and discuss features of the site.  And there is a Kids Fitness Blog where you can find all kids of great fitness and nutrition information.

My Thoughts:  The concept of this site is wonderful and I think it would be great for many kids, especially those who do not get enough physical exercise.  My daughter however, did not enjoy it.  I think it is mostly her age though (she just turned 8), and possibly the fact that she already has many extra curricular activities she participates in (doing more at home was just not fun for her).  I think this would be better suited for older children, maybe those grades 6 and up.  That's just my opinion though, so you should try it out for yourself.

Find Out More:  You can find out more about GoTrybe on their website GoTrybe.com.  The cost of a one-year membership is currently only $19.95 (regularly $39.95).  And even better, I noticed on their Kids Fitness Blog that for a limited time only, you can use the Promo Code KIDSFITNESS and get pay only $0.99 per month!!  And if you want to try it out first, you can click here and enter GETFIT for a FREE trial.

My Crewmates are also reviewing GoTrybe, so you can check out what they think HERE.
