Weekly Wrap-Up: Third Grade #5

This week in our homeschool we continued working in the Heart of Dakota book, Bigger Hearts for His Glory.  We finished up Unit 3 ~ Explorers and Adventurers and started on Unit 4 ~ Captain John Smith and Pocahontas.

In History we learned about Henry Hudson, who was trying to find a northern route to China, first around the top of England, and then around the northern side of America.  Although he didn't find what he was looking for, the Hudson River and Hudson Bay were named after him.

Did you know that Captain John Smith knew Henry Hudson?  He was the one who convinced Hudson to come his direction in search for a new route.  After Jamestown, John Smith had actually wanted to return to New England to start another colony.  He didn't of course, but we can guess who did!

In Science we continued with One Small Square: Seashore.  Below is a notebooking page she completed on the different animals that can be seen down by the sea vs on the shore.

She also performed an experiment to determine the effects of weather on the seashore.  In case you can't tell, that is a plate full of oatmeal being blown around by wind and rain.

The last subject I want to highlight this week is Math.  We have our good days and bad days so today I decided to take a step back and play a game.  We played a game called Corners.  The object of this round was to match numbers of the same color that added up to either 5, 10, 15, or 20.  Each turn you add your sum mentally to your score from the previous turn.  I lost.  :(

How was your week?  Thanks for joining Our Homeschool Reviews and for more Weekly Wrap-Up, this week I am linked up with Kris over at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers.
