Math Mammoth Review

Photobucket

I have had my eye on Math Mammoth for at least a year, so I was thrilled when I got the chance to review the Light Blue Series: Grade 3 Complete Curriculum

From their website:  Math Mammoth offers affordable, yet quality math worktexts and workbooks for grades 1-8, available as both downloads and printed books. These books concentrate on conceptual understanding and are strong in mental math. The directions in the worktexts are written directly to the student, and are often self-teaching, thus requiring little preparation and involvement from the teacher.

Math Mammoth has several options:

Light Blue Series: The Full Curriculum for grades 1-6.  They contain explanations of the topics and are like a textbook & workbook in the same book.  They cover all topics for a given grade level and each grade level includes two parts of a worktext (A and B), tests, cumulative reviews, answer keys, and a worksheet maker.

The Blue Series: Worktexts by Topics for grades 1-6 (7)Each book is on a particular topic, such as addition & subtraction, multiplication, clock, fractions, or division.  Like the Light Blue Series, The Blue Series books contain explanations of the topics and are like a textbook & workbook in the same book.

The Golden Series: Worksheets by Grade for grades 3-8.  These contain problems only and do not teach the topics, so best for teachers or tutors. They are great for classwork or homework, for general review, reinforcement, or practice material.

The Green Series:  Worksheets by Topic for grades 3-7.  These also contain problems only and do not teach the topics, so best for teachers or tutors. They are great for classwork or homework, for general review, reinforcement, or practice material.

As I said before, I received the Light Blue Series: Grade 3 Complete Curriculum.

The two books for Grade 3 focus on
  • multiplication concept
  • memorizing multiplication tables
  • division concept and facts
  • adding and subtracting 4-6 digit numbers
  • using addition and subtraction to solve problems
  • and more!
My Thoughts:  Although the Light Blue Series is a complete curriculum and can be used by itself, I have been using it to supplement our current math curriculum.  Once downloaded, the worksheets are easy to access and print out.  It has been a great tool to use when we are on the go and I want to take a math assignment but don't want to drag along a large book.  I just print out a sheet.

I've been having Funny Bunny work on Math Mammoth in between her regular math lessons.  All the worksheets she has completed so far have included concepts with which she is familiar with, but have been presented in a different way.  Below is a sample of a worksheet she completed.  To see more samples of the Light Blue Series, click here.

I also think the Math Mammoth products are very affordable and Maria Miller, the author of the Math Mammoth books, is easy to work with and very helpful.

Thoughts of an 8-Year Old:  I like Math Mammoth.  The Math Mammoth worksheets can be additional to your regular math lesson or can be a good math program itself.

Find Out More:  You can find out more at Math Mammoth.  The Light Blue Series (Grade 3), which is what I received, is only $34 for a download of the whole set, which includes Part A and B Worktexts, Answer Keys, Tests, Cumulative Reviews, a Worksheet Maker, and Soft-Pak.  You can also buy Part A and B separately for $17 and the supportive materials for $8.95.  And there are options to purchase printed copies as well.  You can also sign up by email and get the package of over 300 FREE sample worksheets!

My Crewmates are also reviewing Math Mammoth, so you can check out what they think HERE.
