Holiday Bliss - December 16

For the month of December Our Homeschool Reviews will be participating in "Holiday Bliss" hosted by Brenda at Garden of Learning.

To participate, I'll be sharing favorite holiday recipes, crafts, traditions, things we do during the month, thoughts on Christmas, pictures of our family during December, or just anything that has something to do with this blessed holiday season.

I posted our Christmas tree pictures yesterday for Wordless Wednesday but wanted to talk about our tradition today.  Every year, the weekend (or week) after Thanksgiving we go to the same tree lot to purchase a tree.  Our daughter loves to walk up and down the rows trying to decide which tree is the best.

Once we get it home the decorating begins!  We lay out all the decorations and the three of us decorate the tree.  I enjoy the assortment of homemade and hand-me-down decorations, so our tree can get a little crowded with "stuff".  It may even look tacky to some but we love it!  It is fun to talk about where each decoration came from or who made it.  Then we top it with a star and place our nativity at the bottom.

Your tree looks beautiful, and it sounds like tree day is a very special one. Our tree is usually very full, too. I love the ornaments. This year I had to keep the special ones packed away because we have an 8 month old kitten with a wild streak. She is always perched up in the tree. Today she leapt right out of the tree and me and scared me silly!

Beautiful tree! My kids love pulling out their old handmade decorations from church/home. They talk about each one & when they made it. So fun!
