Costume Discounters: Mad Hatter Costume Review

As Funny Bunny gets older, it's getting harder and harder to find appropriate clothing for her. Many times we are out shopping for hours and only come home with a shirt or two.

It's also getting harder to find an appropriate Halloween costume for her, and on top of that, finding one that she likes. We've given up on the local stores. There are just not enough options.

That's why I'm thankful for online stores like Costume Discounters!  They have a huge selection and every costume I've ever ordered has fit perfectly.

After extensive searching, my daughter decided on, ordered, and received the cutest costume from Costume Discounters in the mail!!

If you can't tell, it's a Mad Hatter Costume. :)  It's a little funky, but she says it's really comfortable and I like that it keeps her covered and it appropriate for her age. It will also be great whether it's cold or hot out. She is thinking of something crazy I can do with her hair, along with some fun makeup.

If you are trying to think of ideas for Halloween 2015, go on over to Costume Discounters and check out their selection. Browsing was easy with their categories and shipping was very fast. We received it at our home within a few days.

This Mad Hatter Costume came with a dress with attached neck tie, hat, leggings, spat shoe covers, and glovelettes. All that for just $31.99

They also offer a Low Price Guarantee and right now they have 20% off all marked items and free shipping on orders over $100 with code D207.

Medieval Costume Review

I'm so excited to share with you what we received in the mail today!  Funny Bunny couldn't wait to try it on!  It's a Medieval Costume from Costume Supercenter.

We chose a size large and it fits perfectly.  The gown is a navy blue crushed velvet and stops over her feet right above the ground.  It has gold ric-rac trim and a swirling gold foil design on the top and sleeves.  It comes with a matching headpiece with a sheer black veil in the back.

I personally feel like it is made very well and can be worn over and over again. It is not flimsy like some costumes we have seen at local retail stores.

We are currently studying the Medieval time period so it fits perfectly with our studies, and I think Funny Bunny will be wearing it at the next local Homeschool Living Wax Museum.  It would also be fun to wear to something like the Florida Renaissance Festival.

It was easy to place my order on Costume Supercenter and shipping was quick.  We received the costume within a week.  This Girl's Court Lady Costume is normally just $29.97, so very affordable.

Thoughts of an 11-Year Old:  I love the Girl's Court Lady Costume! It's velvet, so it's really comfy; it also has a neat headpiece with a tulle sort of veil. It really looks like something from the Renaissance, which also happens to be my favorite time period in history.

Speaking of history, every year we have a Homeschool Living Wax Museum, where you dress up like a famous character or a person from a certain time period, and give a speech about your topic. Last year my friend and I were two girls from the Great Depression, and I think this year it would be very fun to do a Renaissance theme with her!

I really loved the Girl's Court Lady Costume! It's flowy, it's comfortable, it's cute! And it also may be my next Halloween costume too, we'll see. :)

Dog Costume Review

We had the opportunity to review the most adorable dog costume for our dog Maisy.  We thought she would look super cute as a pirate girl, so that is what we chose!

Wholesale Halloween Costumes has a pretty large assortment of dog costumes. We had a tough time choosing between the Pirate Girl and the Alpine Dress, which was also very cute.

Maisy was not really thrilled with putting the costume on, but she put up with it.  Below she is patiently waiting for hubby to come and save her.  Doesn't she look cute?!  Arrgg!  Oh, and here you go, just in case you want to talk like a pirate too.

Overall I was pleased with Wholesale Halloween Costumes.  They have a large selection of costumes and shipping was fast  There was a sizing chart I referred to so I would get the best fit.  The costume fits Maisy well and there have been no problems with it.

We even found another use for it since Maisy probably won't want to wear it again.  The American Girl doll, Ruthie, is looking pretty cute in it too.  Funny Bunny just added a belt to help keep it tight.

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Wholesale Halloween Costumes.  The Pirate Girl Dog Costumes are just $21.90.  Costumes may only be returned, if they are unworn and in new condition with original packaging within ten (10) days of receipt.

Rosie's Doll Clothes Patterns Review

 photo rosies2_zpse8168139.jpg

Growing up we didn't own a sewing machine so I was never taught to sew.  When Funny Bunny was younger, hubby bought me a basic sewing machine for Christmas and I was ecstatic!!  Of course, I still didn't know how to sew.  I did buy a few simple patterns and was able to make a few things, but  patterns are sometimes confusing, and after a couple projects, I gave up.

So Funny Bunny and I were SUPER EXCITED to receive the How to Make Doll Clothes Video Course from Rosie's Doll Clothes Patterns!!

 photo doll-collage-large_zpscbbc4c2d.jpg

This online video course is the only program that gives you:

* Over 8 hours and 130 step-by-step instructional videos
* 12 months access so that you can watch the videos as many times as you like
* 8 free 18 inch doll clothes patterns with instructions AND video tutorials
* The choice to learn step by step over 6 weeks, receive the entire course immediately or purchase a DVD copy to keep forever

 photo Rosies_zpsc853bd7c.jpg

Here's how we used it

Once logged in, we were given access to all the video tutorials and doll clothes patterns.  The videos are split into topics and divided into six weeks.  Each video lasts from 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the topic.

As an example, Week One includes 32 videos in the following topics:

* Introduction To How To Sew Doll Clothes
* Setting Up Your Sewing Room
* Tools That Make Sewing Doll Clothes Easy
* Everything You Need To Know About Fabric
* Know Your Elastic
* How To Use Your Sewing Tools
* Cool Tips When Using Your Sewing Tools

The videos were very helpful and easy to understand.  We learned several new things and loved the Cool Tips videos!  Funny Bunny and I watched all of Week One videos and some of Week Two before she couldn't wait any longer to get started.

Out of the 8 free patterns {Sport Shorts, Crop Top, Sarong, Halter Top, Summer Nightie, Hat, Pumpkin, and Underpants}, we decided to make the Sport Short first.  We printed out the pattern and instructions and gathered all our materials.

The videos were very helpful in completing the project, especially for those of us who are less experienced with reading patterns and sewing.  Perfect for a 10-year old!!

After cutting, pinning, and ironing, we started sewing.

Below is the final result {I think they came out pretty good}!!

We also sewed a Sarong.

Now she is excited to move on to the next sewing project!!

Thoughts of a 10-Year Old: Sewing the doll clothes with the help of the Rosie's Doll Clothes videos was so easy.  They came out good, and though some parts were harder than others, like the seams, they came out better then we expected them to. The videos helped a lot. The dolls like their outfits.

Find Out More: You can find out more online at Rosie's Doll Clothes Patterns.The How to Make Doll Clothes Video Course with 8 Free Doll Clothes Patterns is just $47.23.  This is a 12-month online membership.  There is also a DVD option, which is $66.14.  In addition, from now until Christmas Eve, they will be giving away an additional FREE doll clothes Pattern of YOUR choice with every Online How to Make Doll Clothes course or DVD set.  The course is for ages 8 and up.

My Crewmates are also talking about Rosie's Doll Clothes Patterns, so you can check out what they think about it HERE.

Fun Flapper Costume!

We were given the opportunity to try out one of the many flapper costumes at the Wholesale Costume Club.

Initially Funny Bunny was not too sure about this particular costume.  Of course, you never know what you are going to think until you try it, right?!

Well, once she put it on I could not get her to take it off!  She loved all the fringe and had fun spinning around, over and over.

Plus, what a great opportunity to talk about jazz and fashion in the 1920s.  The roaring 20's are one of hubby's favorite time periods as well.

Bows 'N Ties: Puccini's New Repp-Stripe Collection Review and GIVEAWAY!

Hubby started a new job in January, and guess what he now has to wear to work every . single . day?  You guessed it...a tie!!  When you wear them everyday, they are like a shirt, you don't want to repeat the same one that often.  So we have been on the hunt for ties.  If you haven't priced them lately, I can tell you that they are expensive.  More expensive than the shirt it's worn with sometimes.

I was so happy to find Bows N' Ties and Puccini's New Repp-Stripe Collection!!  Bows N' Ties offers the highest quality neck and bow ties at unbelievable prices!  On top of that they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy with a 30-day "no questions asked" return policy.

Hubby received the Grass Green and White Necktie from Puccini's New Repp-Sripe Collection, which was created for the spring and summer season 2013.

It is now available in these 10 color combinations:

* Navy & Light Blue
* Cherry Red & White
* Merlot Red & Sky Blue
* Brick Red & Midnight Blue
* Platinum Silver & White
* Truffle Brown & Powder Blue
* Grass Green & White
* Aqua Blue & White
* Eggplant Purple & Rose Pink
* Summer Yellow & White

A perfect blend of traditional repp-stripe design, one that is typically associated with conservative regimental ties, and bold/bright colors, this assortment of ties will infuse some fresh air into any man’s wardrobe. Featuring a modern width of 3.25 inches, this collection is perfect for any modern cut suit featuring narrow to medium-width lapels. Best of all is the price on these pieces.

Hubby wore this tie to work and he called me that afternoon with some news.  He said that more than one person complimented him on his tie!   So of course I asked him if he normally gets compliments on his ties, and he said no, this was the first time!  How cool is that?!

In both of our opinions, the tie was well made and definitely worth the price!  Hubby thought it had a nice texture and it made a nice, crisp knot.

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Bows 'N TiesPuccini's New Repp-Sripe Collection sells for just $9.90 each!!  They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy with a 30-day "no questions asked" return policy.

Cleavitz Review and Giveaway

As Funny Bunny gets older {she is 9 already} I am realizing how important it is to teach modesty.  And the best way to teach modesty is to live it.

But if you have been clothes shopping lately, you know how discouraging it can be!  Once your little girl makes the big move to the older section, the modest clothing selection goes way down.  And I get frustrated even when I shop for myself

Well I was excited to find a product that will at least help with those low cut tees and sweaters.  It's called CleavitzCleavitz is an ultra-comfortable half-top that gives women of all bust sizes the confidence to wear the stylish, low-cut fashions in the marketplace today.

In the past I have usually worn some sort of tank top under my low cut sweaters and tee-shirts.  So why is Cleavitz better?

*  No tugging and adjusting your camisole or tank top
*  Comfort without binding elastic, clips, snaps, or tape
*  Cool, light-weight material

Cleavitz come in 3 styles: Cotton, Shimmer, and Lace.

And they are great for women, mothers, executives, and teens.

My Thoughts:  I received the cotton Cleavitz in red.  I have several v-neck sweaters that I can wear it with.  It is comfortable and versatile.  Normally I would wear a tank top under my sweater and it would constantly ride up so I would always be pulling it back down.  Of course I didn't have the problem at all with Cleavitz.

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Cleavitz.  The Cotton is $29.95, Shimmer is $34.95, and Lace is $39.95.  Right now you can enjoy 25% off and FREE shipping with codes FREESHIP and MAY2012.  You can also always use the code FRIEND to get 25% off your first purchase.

Cleavitz also has a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and two percent of all Cleavitz revenues are going straight to the front lines of the battle against breast cancer.

Funny Bunny Designs

I had mentioned a few weeks ago that Funny Bunny has been hard at work on a project since December.  Well I finally think it's time to share it!!

Funny Bunny Designs is an online store where you can purchase things like t-shirts, hats, pins, placemats, keychains, mugs, and more....all designed with images that Funny Bunny created herself.

She drew each design and chose the products to feature them on.  Everything can be customized, so if you love the design but don't like the shirt style, you can change it.

And the best part is that a small percentage of every sale goes to Funny Bunny!!

I'm also happy to announce that she made her first sale {the llama shirt below} two weeks ago!

So if you have some time, please stop by Funny Bunny Designs and take a look.  Once on her page, you can click to "like" her store on the left side.  That would mean a lot!

Anytime Costumes Review

For the past two years Funny Bunny has participated in a Living Wax Museum with other homeschoolers.  This year she decided she wanted to be Mary Chilton, one of the children aboard the Mayflower.  I cannot sew so I was more than thrilled to review one of the many girls colonial costumes that Anytime Costumes has to offer.

They have several varieties of colonial/pilgrim costumes that I was able to choose from, and they were all very reasonably priced.  You can see what we chose below.

It arrived at our house in just a few days and was packaged nicely.  It fit Funny Bunny perfectly!!  All I had to do was iron it to get the creases from the packaging out. Don't you think it's perfect?!

The location where our event was held had this field behind it, and with the sun setting, it was the perfect backdrop for a girl on the prairie. I love this picture!!

If you are looking for a similar costume for your child's next event, also check here for historical faires.

My Thoughts:  Everyone who has seen this costume has had nothing but good things to say about it.  Anytime Costumes was easy to work with, shipping was fast, and the costume came to us in excellent condition.  I would definitely recommend getting your next costume with them.

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Anytime Costumes.  Costumes are divided up into departments on the left hand side, so it was easy to search for Girls or Boys Costumes.  Right now you can get free shipping on orders of $39.99 or more and you can use coupon code SPRING to take an extra 15% off all costumes $25 or more.  Also, if you received your order and have determined that you need a different size, you can take advantage of their Free Size Exchange Program.

Disclosure:  This product was given to Our Homeschool Reviews for free for review purposes, and I do not have to return the products to the vendor.  I have received no compensation from it and all opinions and experiences within this review are my own.
