Sleep Number and SleepIQ Technology Review

Last weekend my family and I visited our local Sleep Number store to learn about the new SleepIQ technology.  This was our first visit ever to a Sleep Number store and before entering the store we had no idea what SleepIQ was about.

As a matter of fact, we were under the impression that Sleep Number beds were way out of our price range...and boy were we wrong!

William, the Sleep Professional we met was extremely helpful.  He first had us lay on one of the beds and use the remote to find our sleep number.  Surprisingly, we both had fairly low numbers.  He then told us all about the SleepIQ technology.

This I thought was really innovative, especially for someone who has a husband who does not sleep very well at all.  SleepIQ basically tracks and journals your sleep patterns throughout the night.  The sensors in your Sleep Number bed measure your breathing rate, heart rate, and movement to track how you are sleeping.  Then it provides you with information you can use to make adjustments to your Sleep Number setting or daily routine to help you sleep better.

It gives detailed a detailed hour by hour summary on each night's sleep.

We were really intrigued by the technology so we started inquiring about the beds.  Like I mentioned earlier, they are really more affordable than we thought. Prices online right now start as low as $899 for a queen and $1,499 for a king. I'm pretty sure we spent close to that on our last mattress...which we have hated from the start.

Find Out More:  You can find out more about SleepIQ online at Sleep Number. Sleep IQ is $499.99 but if you purchase it with your new Sleep Number bed it is only $299.99.

Lilla Rose Review

I was contacted by Jennifer over at A Glimpse of Our Life to try out and review a Flexi Hair Clip by Lilla Rose.

If you are not familiar with Lilla Rose, it centers around unique, functional, and well made hair jewelry, the most popular being the Flexi Hair Clip, which is what I'll be telling you about.

We received the Festive Poinsettia, size extra small.  You can see it below.  Isn't it beautiful?!

Before ordering though, it's very important to watch the video on Sizing and Styling so you know what size to order for your hair.  Based on the thickness of our hair and that we would be using the clip to only put half our hair up, we chose extra small.

We found the clip to be very well made and the beading and design beautiful! It is simple to use and as you can see in the picture above, it comes with a sliding pin attached, so there is no worry about it getting lost.

Although we only used it to put our hair half up, it is very versatile and, depending on the size you order, can be used to put hair in a ponytail, tails up, french twist, and more.

Funny Bunny doesn't usually want to have anything done with her hair, so I was excited to have her try this.  I think it turned out quite nice and she likes it.

I like it for my hair as well.  My hair is thicker and more wavy but I can still easily pull half into the clip.  It's simple for me to attach and looks much nicer than the ponytail holder I'm prone to wearing. :)

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Lilla Rose.  The Flexi Clip sizes range from mini to mega and are priced at $11 and up.  Lilla Rose also sells Hair Sticks, Hair Bands, Bobby Pins, and more.  You can purchase straight through Jennifer's site or contact her to host a party to earn free jewelry.

Jennifer has a New Customer Special right now - Receive a certificate for 1 FREE item up to $16 after a purchase of 3 items.  Just email her through her website to redeem this offer!  What a great way to purchase a few gifts!

Vegan Cuts May Beauty Box Review

Back in April I had the opportunity to review the March Snack Box from Vegan Cuts and now I'm going to tell you a little about the May Beauty Box.

Each Beauty Box is filled with 4-7 new products to try and is sent out each month. Products range from cosmetics to skin care and anything in between. The products are 100% cruelty free and mostly organic and natural.

In the May Beauty Box I received the following items:

Lauren Brooke Cometiques Mascara - It came in an adorable teeny tiny bottle but I've used it a few times already and it works great.

Gourmet Body Treats Finishing Powder - This Raw Finishing Powder is meant to be the last step in your makeup application.  I've used it a couple times and it has a nice feel.  It even comes with a cap with holes so you don't get too much at one time.

Tallulah Jane Eau de Parfum - I actually really like the smell of this perfume. It's not strong and doesn't irritate my skin.

Skinagain Youth Cream - This cream came in a fairly large 3.4 fl oz bottle, much larger than the other samples I received!  I'm using it so will definitely post again if I can tell a difference in my skin over time.

Sevi Texurizer Spray - I'm loving this hair texture spray!!  The smell is light and airy and doesn't overpower.  I've been using it on days that I don't wash my hair, to give it that fresh feel.

Goddess Garden Organics Sunscreen - I can't wait to try this sunscreen next time I'm outside for an extended period of time.  It's an EWG Best Sunscreen Pick in 2013.  Hoping it works out because I will buy more if it does.  And according to their website, it comes in a spray as well.

I was really happy with my May Beauty Box!!  I felt like what I received was well over the $19.95 price tag and it was fun to try some new products!

Find Out More: You can find out more online at Vegan Cuts.  Beauty Boxes are $19.95 a month with free shipping.

Beeyoutiful Review

Photobucket

Beeyoutiful was created to assist in bridging the nutritional gap between modern diets and our bodies nutritional needs.  Their website includes information on nutritional supplements, natural skin care, and other items that promote a healthy lifestyle.

I am always on the lookout for natural products for our family so I was excited to learn about this online company.  And after a little digging on their website, I also found out that they are a Christian company.

Beeyoutiful's Values:  We are believers in Jesus Christ. We strive to act according to what this means to us. We believe in treating others the way we would like to be treated. We strive to quickly and accurately meet every need, answer every question, take every call, and ship every order, without mistake. But we're human. We make mistakes. So we pledge to do our best to make it right.

Now on to their products!  They have a large supply of Bath and Beauty products, Essential Oils, Natural Supplements, Books, Tea, and more.  To make your search for products easier, you can even shop by health concerns like Digestion or Hormone Support.

I received two products that I would like to tell you about.

The first is their Lip Balm, which comes in Peppermint and Orange.  Ingredients include Organic Grapeseed Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Beeswax, and Essential Oils.

I am usually not big on the peppermint smell, but this one is nice.  A little like a candy cane.  It goes on smooth and keeps my lips moisturized throughout the day.

PhotobucketThe second product I received is the Winter Breeze Vapor Rub.  This is the healthier version of traditional vapor rub, using body-friendly coconut and olive oils, along with beeswax, rather than petroleum.

Ingredients include Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Beeswax, Camphor Essential Oil, Menthol Crystals, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Wintergreen Essential Oil, & Tea Tree Essential Oil.

Thankfully I haven't needed to use this, but I will say that it has a light menthol smell.  It rubs in pretty well and I don't feel like I have a greasy residue.

Oh, and I find it interesting that they say you can also apply Winter Breeze to your feet, where antibacterial, antifungal oils soak through your skin and into body cells.  If it is applied regularly at bedtime for several months, foot fungus and cracking should disappear.

Find Out More:  You can find out more online at Beeyoutiful.  The Lip Balm sells for only $3 and the Winter Breeze Vapor Rub sells for $18.  Orders generally ship between 1-3 business days.  Defective and/or damaged products maybe returned within 60 days for a full refund of the purchase price and if for any reason you are not satisfied with any Beeyoutiful Labeled product, you may return the item within 60 days for a complete refund minus shipping.

You can also find them on Facebook or learn more on their online forum.

My Crewmates are also reviewing Beeyoutiful and some of their other products, so you can check out what they think HERE.

Burt's Bees Natural Skin Solutions Review

I received a wonderful package from Burt's Bees to try out and tell you about.  Included in my package were a full size Natural Skin Solutions for Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser and Daily Moisturizer.

The Facial Cleanser is a soap-free cream cleanser clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin while gently cleansing away dirt, oil and make-up without over drying or causing redness.

The Daily Moisturizer is clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin all day without causing redness or irritation.

If you have never heard of Burt's Bees, their goal is to create and educate people on truly natural products that have a positive effect on both you and the world you live in for the good of your well-being, for the good of the environment and for The Greater Good.

My Thoughts:  I tried both the Natural Skin Solutions for Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser and Daily Moisturizer for about a week.  Both made my skin feel soft and smooth.  I have to be honest though, after about three days of using the products, I started to break out on my forehead.  I wasn't sure if it was from the Burt's Bees products though, so I continued to use them for the remainder of the week.  My breakout continued until about two days after I stopped using the products.  I am not sure why my skin reacted the way it did and I was disappointed since my skin was so smooth at first.  I'm sure every person is different though, so if you are looking for a natural skin care solution, it may be worth a try.

Find Out More:  You can find out more at Burt's Bees products at http://www.burtsbees.com/.  The Daily Moisturizer sells for $15 and the Facial Cleanser is $10.  Both are 99% natural.

Are you looking for products for your family that contain "No Nasty Chemicals?"  If so, I want to introduce you to Ecostore USA, where "No Nasty Chemicals" is their slogan.

Ecostore USA offers more than 100 products, each one meeting the most stringent environmental and sustainability standards. So what does "No Nasty Chemicals" mean to them?

* No Toxic Petrochemicals

* No Optical Whiteners
* No Synthetic Perfumes or Dyes
* No Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
* No Phosphates
* No Chlorine
* No Ammonia
* No TEA, DEA, or MEA
* No Parabens
* No Propylene Glycol

If you would like to see more detail on each of these chemicals and what they can do to your skin and the environment, you can read more here (it's very eye opening).

I received both their Baby Shampoo and Body Wash

The shampoo is extremely mild and is made up of plant based ingredients.  My daughter likes it and has been using it each time she washes her hair.  She says it smells like tea leaves.  I can't pinpoint the smell, but it is nice.

The Body Wash I received is lovely and goes on smooth.  It has a coconut and vanilla scent but is very faint.  I have been using it head to toe each morning and am enjoying it.

You can find a list of it's ingredients here.

I just love that I can feel confident that both of these products are safe for our skin!

Find Out More:  You can find out more about Ecostore USA and their products on their website

They have products for baby, bath and body, household, and pets.  The Body Wash is currently on sale for $8 for 13.5 fl oz and the Baby Shampoo is currently $8.50 for 8 fl oz.  Right now all orders over $25 get free shipping!  You can also find Ecostore USA on Facebook and Twitter.

ecomom Review and Giveaway

If you have read my blog long enough, you know that I like to try and use as many natural products as I can.  I try to buy organic foods when available and all natural products for things like hair and skin.  So when I heard about ecomom, I was happy that I found a company who does all the research and finds the best products so I don't have to.

ecomom offers organic food, safe bath and skin care, learning toys, eco friendly gear for mom and baby, and clothes and accessories.

I had the opportunity to review a couple items from ecomom and I would like to tell you a little about them.

The first is SmartyPants Gummy Vitamins.  These vitamins are an all-in-one multi-vitamin for both kids and adults which contains no high fructose corn syrup.

They contain 100% of the RDI for Vitamin D, eco-friendly DHA & EPA Omega 3's, are gluten and casein free, and only 5g of organic cane sugar per serving.  SmartyPants Gummy Vitamins come in lemon, orange, and cherry flavors.

My daughter has been asking for gummy vitamins for quite some time now as we have only purchased chewables in the past.  We were given a one serving sample of four gummies.  I am not sure which of the three flavors she tried but she did not like it.  Since she would not eat anymore, I ate the other three.  I thought they tasted fine (possibly just different from what she is use to) and am sure most children would like them, especially since four gummies is one serving.  It's almost like having a snack.

The SmartyPants Gummy Vitamins sell for $21.95 for one bottle, which is a 30-day supply or 120 gummies.

The second product I was able to try was Doctor T's Supergoop Lip Balm.  This lip balm has a SPF of 30 and is made with shea butter.  The active ingredients include Octinoxate 7.5% (Sunscreen), Octisalate (Sunscreen) 5%, and Avobenzone 3% (Sunscreen).  It goes on smooth and kept my lips moist.  It comes in two flavors, mint and acai.  I received mint but if I had a choice I would probably prefer acai.  Doctor T's Supergoop Lip Balm sells for $8.50.

--------------------------------------------------------

So here's how to enter to win $15 Gift Card to ecomom!  For each comment, you will get one (1) entry.

1. Visit ecomom and leave a comment telling me why you would like to win.

2. Follow my blog using Google Friend Connect.

3. Like Our Homeschool Reviews on Facebook.

4. Follow me on Twitter @OurHSReviews.

5. Subscribe to my blog by email though Feedburner.

**Remember to please leave a separate comment for each entry**

One random winner will be selected using Random.org on Monday, July 18, 2011. (U.S. Entries only.) If I am unable to reach the winner within 48 hours, an alternate winner will be selected. Your entry is only valid if you include a way for me to contact you (either an email address in your comment or on your profile).

Eardoc: Ear Infection Treatment Review

I came across an interesting product a couple months ago and had to find out more about it.  It's called the Eardoc and it is a non-invasive treatment for, not only ear infections, but also other types of ear pain.

Our daughter thankfully has never had an ear infection in the eight years of her life.  She has, however, had one ear abrasion (long story) and two bouts with swimmers ear.  Two out of three landed her at the ENT after months of pain and multiple antibiotics that didn't work.

She is on the summer swim team for the third year in a row, and I am praying she doesn't get swimmers ear again.  We are using some preventative measures this year to *hopefully* ensure she does not...but you can see why I was interested to learn more about the Eardoc!

The Eardoc is really easy to use and I personally think the idea behind it is so amazingly simple.  When turned on, the Eardoc vibrates and is placed behind your ear, against the bone.  The vibration eases the pressure on the ear caused by excess fluids and when the fluids begin to drain, the ear pain is relieved.  You can watch my video below for a *very simple* explanation of how to use it or you can click here to see more testimonials and reviews.

The Eardoc treats:
* Ear infections
* Middle ear fluid
* Otitis Media
* Ear pain caused by air travel
* Swimmers Ear
* Ear fullness caused by colds and allergies

My Thoughts:  If the Eardoc can relieve ear pain, keep a family member from having to visit the ENT and get prescribed ear medication, and even keep a child from having ear tubes, I think it is worth a try!  Since having it, I am thankful that we have not had to use it for ear pain, and I will be sure to give an update if we ever have to use it.

Find Out More:  You can find out more about this great product by visiting Eardoc's website.  The Eardoc sells for $55 with free shipping and if you want one for a friend, you can get two for $77.  You can also find out more on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclosure: This product was given to Our Homeschool Reviews for free for review purposes, and I do not have to return the product to the vendor. I have received no compensation from it and all opinions and experiences within this review are my own.
